Football’s governing body in the West Midlands is looking into complaints about remarks said to have been made by 18-year-old Conor Baker while he was playing for Nuneaton Town’s youth team.

The allegations follow a cup game at the Triton Showers Community Arena in Liberty Way, Nuneaton.

The teenager, who is from the Bedworth area, has since had his contract terminated by the football club.

Nuneaton Town is waiting to find out whether it will be charged by the Birmingham County Football Association.

The striker – who has played a number of first team games – appeared in an FA Youth Cup fixture for the club last September.

Several opposing players for Chasetown are believed to made complaints over alleged racial insults during the 1-0 win in which Baker himself scored a dramatic extra time winner.

It is understood he denies allegations of racism.

Ian Neale, chairman of Nuneaton Town, said: “The player’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent.

Two more Nuneaton Town youth players suspended over 'racist row'

TWO more footballers are being investigated following allegations of racial abuse during a game for Nuneaton Town’s youth team.

Lewis Edwards, aged 18, and George Washbourne, 17, have been suspended after accusations that they made racist remarks to another player during a cup game against Chasetown.

The Telegraph exclusively revealed yesterday how Birmingham Football Association was investigating allegations of racial abuse said to have been made by Nuneaton Town’s Conor Baker.

Ian Neale, chairman of Nuneaton Town, said: “Washbourne and Edwards are being suspended by the club with immediate effect. If found guilty they will have their registrations terminated with immediate effect.

"The club runs a zero tolerance policy on any form of racially motivated abuse and will fully co-operate and support the investigation.”

The football’s governing body, Birmingham County FA, confirmed allegations against all three players are now being investigated.

Nuneaton footballers tell of 'nightmare' after being cleared of racism

THE dads of two Nuneaton footballers cleared of racism have told of the traumatic effects the scandal has had on their young sons.

Centre-half Lewis Edwards, 18, and fellow youth player George Washbourne, 17, a midfielder, were suspended by Nuneaton Town after allegations they racially abused opposition players during a game against Chasetown.

But it was announced on Friday that the Football Association had dropped the charges and the pair have been reinstated in the team.
