Developer Friargate Coventry LLP wants to build 14 new office buildings and two hotels, along with flats, shops, restaurants and bars.

The plans also include a new public square in front of the city's railway station.

Coventry city council leader Ken Taylor said the proposals were "fantastically exciting".

The plans cover the area bounded by Station Square, Manor Road, Warwick Road, Greyfriars Green and Grosvenor Road.

Council chiefs have previously said they believe the redevelopment of Friargate could create up to 15,000 extra jobs.

The council has said the new office blocks could encourage government departments to move to Coventry.
