Now panic buyers empty the shelves as new freeze looms

Supermarkets were stripped of essentials yesterday as families stocked up ahead of another predicted freeze.

Bread, milk and salt to treat frozen pathways were among the staples being grabbed despite a slight rise in temperatures.

Forecasters have warned that more snow is on the way, and that temperatures will plunge again towards the end of this week.

It hasn't snowed here since Saturday night. The predicted snow for the s.e. over the next few days has now been changed to 'cloudy'.

It's thawing nicely now thank goodness - hope I can get the car out today - so I can go out and panic buy -

No I haven't been running the engine - think I'll go and do that now - fingers crossed - please God it starts

With the weather at the moment, and a car standing idle, things go to sleep and when you start up , and some people drive off that is when the problems start .It is a matter of running the car for about 10 minutes and that gives primarily the oil and alternator to get warmed up.
A woman by us jumps into the car and just takes off and asked me today why the car is sluggish and jumping,she well knows now what is logic and stupidity .
The thing is , a car costs money and if you do not look after it that is when you start with the folding money so if you have a problem dear, let me know as our family has its own mechanic ie one of the son-in-laws who has his own business and the current charge is about £30 an hour labour

Luckily it's just had a full service Stevie - have put a load of rock salt round it so fingers crossed for tomorrow.

hope the rock salt does not melt the paintwork and the tyres
