Melissa Crook, 20, and her 15-month old son Noah died in the blaze at their house in Chatham Hill in the early hours of Saturday.

Her father, Mark Crook, 49, had been in a serious condition in hospital. His wife and son were also hurt but have since been released from hospital.

Three people charged over the fire have been remanded in custody.

Dani Muhammadi, 23, and Emma Smith, 21, both of Coventry, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court earlier alongside Farhad Mahmud, 35, of Maidstone.

Trial date set

Mr Muhammadi - Ms Crook's estranged husband - is accused of two counts of murder and three of attempted murder.

Mr Mahmud, of Kensington House, Fernhill Road, Maidstone, has been charged with two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

Ms Smith, of Barley Lea, Stoke Aldermoor, Coventry, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to murder and one count of arson with intent to endanger life.

All three will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on 25 November.

A trial date has been provisionally set for 12 March next year.

A fourth person, a 37-year-old man from Coventry, remains on police bail in connection with the incident.
