Five people are in custody following a shooting in Coventry.A member of the public reported the sound of gunfire in the Wood End area on Thursday evening. Police later found bullet casings in Wappenbury Road.
A car in the area at the time was stopped by police and two teenagers arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft. The car had been stolen earlier.
Four of those in custody are from Coventry and one from Frankley, Birmingham.
Five more men were arrested nearby for drug offences and assaulting a police officer. Two of these were later released without charge.
There have been no reports of injuries.
Det Insp Sharon Naughton said it was a shocking, but rare, incident and police were working hard to establish what happened.
"If we are to succeed, we need anyone who was in the area at the time the weapon was discharged to contact us with any information they think may help.
"This may be cars seen in the area, people hanging around or anything else out of the ordinary," she said.
