Fearless supergran Barbara Rawlings has signed up for a skydive in aid of the Myton Hospices in October.

Her friends in the Kenilworth Walkers group had sent her an e-mail saying that the charity was trying to sign up 20 adventurous fundraisers for the stunt at Hinton Airfield in Northamptonshire.

Never one to back away from a new experience Barbara, of Middlecotes, Tile Hill, Coventry, soon signed up.

And considering she celebrated her 80th birthday by going hang gliding, her friends and family are not surprised.

Barbara said: “People are always telling me they don’t know how I do it or saying how they’re worried.

“But I’ve never let anything get in my way. If I struggle to do something one day and stop and tell myself I’ll just have another go tomorrow.

“My attitude to getting older is like a standing joke with my friends. You are never too old to do anything. I’ve always thought if you want to do something just do it.”

Barbara, who moved to Coventry 13 years ago, will jump from 10,000ft in tandem with an instructor on October 22.
