Man stabbed in Wentworth Road, Rugby: five people arrested

Five people from Rugby have been arrested following an incident in town this morning (Thursday).

A 53-year-old man, two 19-year-old men and an 18-year-old man have all been arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent.

A 45-year-old female has also been arrested in connection with the investigation. All five are currently in custody awaiting questioning by officers.

Police were called to Wentworth Road at around 9.20am this morning.

Following the incident, an 18 year old man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire after suffering a stab injury to his leg. He is currently in a stable condition.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Wentworth Road who saw a silver or blue metallic coloured Seat containing two people in the area at around 9.20am today.

Following the incident, the Seat was abandoned after colliding with the traffic lights in Buchanan Road and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this and saw the occupants run off.

Wentworth Road has been closed all day.
