Isn't this one reason why there is a swing against asylum seekers in general? - Don't blame the asylum seekers, blame the muppets in government that allowed this to happen.

A friend of mine has a small property letting business. She signed up to a scheme to take asylum seekers. It was totally unprofitable to her as she had to provide so much and at such high standards. After about 12 months she dropped out, because she didn't need be so fastidious to local renters. (She's not a shark, her properties are actually very decent.)

It's galling at a time when people on low incomes have had their Local Housing Allowance cut by 40% or more and middle-aged people in Coventry have been told to look for smaller acccommodation because their homes are now "too big for them".
