The victim, who is 21, was targeted as she made her way home from a dance class in the city.
She was attacked at some time between 10.15pm and 10.35pm in Waverley Road, Spon End on May 9.
A subway CCTV camera captures the suspect shortly after the incident, walking towards the city centre.
He is described as Asian, between 25 and 30 years old, about 5ft 5in tall, of proportionate build, with short black hair that is spiked at the front. He spoke with a strong Asian accent.
Detective Constable Clive Leftwich said: “The woman was not seriously hurt but the assault left her shaken up.
“I’d ask anyone who recognises the male captured in the CCTV footage to contact me as soon as possible.”
