George Eliot hospital finally free of norovirus

The sickness bug had temporarily closed three wards – Bob Jakin, Adam Bede and the Emergency Medical Unit – to visitors since the start of the month.

They are now open again to family and friends but visiting is still restricted there and on every other ward of the hospital, although times have been extended to between 3 and 4pm, as well as from 7pm to 8pm.

The hospital is still asking any friends and relatives you are feeling unwell themselves, especially sickness and diarrhoea symptons, to stay away.

Anyone who does visit should make sure they use the hand gel provided at the entrances to all buildings.

The hospital’s hoping to bring visiting times back to normal on Friday, but in the meantime you can call their switchboard for information on 02476351351 or go to their website.
