A tourist attraction in Warwickshire has re-opened for the summer season – even though it’s been refused planning permission.
The people behind Heart Park in Fillongley were told back in January they would not be given approval for the artificial beach as they had built it without applying to the council first.
They have now appealed to the High Court over the decision.
The attraction first opened two years ago and saw over 4,000 visitors in 2010.
Managing Director Stephen Hammon told Mercia 3,500 people went there this weekend and he believes 2011 will be the best season yet: “We have had a huge amount of favourable feedback from families who love being able to travel to a beach which is virtually on their doorstep rather than having to travel a couple of hours to the seaside.”
North Warwickshire Borough Council say they remain in contact with the people running the park.
