After weeks of rumours speedway’s governing body have finally announced Coventry Bees have re-joined the Elite League. The Bees were originally dismissed from the league last year when they missed a vote on who would take part in next season’s competition.
Ever since they, and the Peterborough Panthers – who were also exluded – have been trying to reach an agreement with the British Speedway Promoters’ Association.
At one point the row was set to go to the courts, but all the issues have now been resolved and both sides are free to race again, with Coventry Bees able to defend their title.
A statement on the BSPA posted this afternoon reads: “The BSPA and Coventry and Peterborough are delighted to announce that both teams will return to the Elite League in 2011.
“Coventry and Peterborough accept that things said in the heat of the moment could have been avoided.
“For the sake of British Speedway and more importantly its fans we are all committed to moving on and working together for the future.”
We don’t know yet when the Bees first official race will be.
