RSPCA officers are appealing for information after making the sick discovery.

The female black and white cat was found by a cleaner at a new build housing development in Kempton Drive, Warwick.

She was only about one or two years old and was not wearing a collar.

The cat was hanging from a fence by a long white shoe lace.

The lace was doubled knotted around the cat’s neck so tightly that RSPCA animal welfare officer Jayne Fuller had difficulty removing it.

She said: “Knowing that someone could be so cold and calculating to hang this cat makes me feel sick.

“The cat must have been friendly and placid to have gone to the individual and for the person to then abuse this animal in such a way is horrific.”

She believes the cat would still have been alive when it was hanged. It was found on March 15.

Anyone with any information about the incident should contact the RSPCA national cruelty hotline on 0300 1234 999.
