A smoke screen security device foiled burglars who broke into a Nuneaton mini-market.
Police were called to the Tesco Express store in Croft Road at 3.20am on Wednesday after reports of a break-in.
CCTV footage showed an offender entering the building carrying a crowbar but leaving when the smoke screen was activated.
Twenty minutes later officers stopped a vehicle in Beaumont Road and after recovering a number of items, including a crowbar, arrested two men, aged 21 and 31.
The pair were taken into custody for questioning.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Warwickshire Police on 01926 415000.
