About 250 residents are expected to celebrate the Royal Wedding in Armorial Road, Styvechale, with a feast of burgers and sausages, street games and music.

The party will get started from 2pm after Prince William and Kate Middleton have tied the knot.

Entertainment will include a Coventry’s Got Talent contest, the Armorial Arms pub quiz and a traditional sing-a-long.

An egg and spoon race, penalty shoot-out, and tug-of-war are just some of the activities which will take place until 7pm.

The event will be among 22 street parties being held in the city – the largest number outside London.

Mike Perry, aged 66, chairman of the Armorial Road and Stivichall Croft Committee, said he was “extremely pleased” Coventry has an appetite to party in the street.
