Efforts stepped up to find 3 men behind sex assault

Police are going door-to-door in a part of Coventry to see if people recognise three men who sexually assaulted a woman along a busy main road.



The 20-year old was walking to work along Holbrook Way, not far from the A444, at around 4:30am on Saturday when she says three men jumped out of a dark-red estate car and attacked her.

She says she was grabbed near the Bailey Buildbase store.

Investigation Officer Detective Inspector Wendy Bailey said: “Although it was early in the morning, the lady reports seeing several cars driving past so I’m appealing for those motorists to contact me as they could have important information.”

All the men were black, with the first man described as in his late 30s and 6′ tall. He had a goatee beard and a large nose and was wearing a dark padded jacket with a bright yellow and green zip.

The second is said to be in his early to mid-20s, shorter and slim, with afro-style hair and a scar on the side of his nose, He was wearing a brown jacket.

Finally, the third suspect is believed to be in his early 30s, around 5’5″, with a moustache. He had a crystal stud earring and had a dark pull-on fleece.

Detective Inspector Bailey added: “There have been no similar incidents reported in the area and, at this stage, it’s not being linked to any other sexual assaults in the city.”

“However, our advice to women would always be to avoid walking alone after dark, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning, and to consider personal safety at this time.”
