A new 500-seater stand is being built at Nuneaton Town, as part of plans to prepare the club for possible promotion.

The Triton Arena needs some adjustments if the side – currently top of Blue Square North – manage to stay there by the end of the season.

The new structure – on the north side – is being fast-tracked and should be finished by April.

It’s the first of three phases for the stadium, with the third to include the building of a training facility on the far side of the river.

A Community Foundation has also been created there which lets local people use the gym and allotment there and that is now set to be expanded.

Nuneaton Town chairman, Ian Neale, said: “The world has become a wholly different financial environment since we reformed in 2008. In bucking the trend, we have tried incredibly hard to advance the club.

“There has been massive progress, not only on the field of play with back-to-back promotions, but off the field too. The main aspect having been the total refurbishment of all the internal areas in the club, from the Sports Bar through to new corporate facilities. We have also invested in a range of new machinery for ground care.”

“The development of the Club continues to be an exciting time and the ongoing aim is to provide an organisation that promotes Nuneaton and can provide a local Club that everyone in Nuneaton can be proud of and support at every level.”
