A teenage girl endured a terrifying experience when she was grabbed from behind by a man on a Nuneaton footpath.

The footpath runs through a tunnel under the railway line and between houses on the other side.

The assault took place as the 16-year-old victim walked along an alleyway between Townsend Drive and Gadsby Street, near the Attleborough Industrial Estate.

She heard someone running behind her and thought it was a jogger.

A man then grabbed her and pushed his hand down her trousers.

The girl struggled to break free but ended up falling to the ground along with the offender, who then got up and ran off.

He is described as white, aged between 20 and 30 with short dark hair and stubble on his face. He was wearing a hooded top.

The attack was at 2.15pm last Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Paul Thompson is appealing for witnesses to contact him on 024 7648 3179, voicemail 11512.
