More than 3,000 people have put their names to a campaign to save Bulkington library.

The petition will be handed in to Warwickshire County Council’s headquarters, before the start of Thursday’s cabinet meeting.

Members are due to discuss proposals to review the county library service, which puts Bulkington among 16 branches under threat of closure.

Campaigners from the largest village in Warwickshire have collected 3,095 signatures to support their fight and are being joined by their county councillor John Ross and MP Mark Pawsey.

“Bulkington has been identified on a list of libraries considered as being unsustainable,” said former borough councillor and mayor Mary Beaumont.

“The county council intends to carry out a consultation process that will allow people to put forward their views and opinions on future library provision.

“The people of Bulkington and surrounding villages firmly believe that our library should stay open.”
