Six hurt in road accident near Warwick

Six people are in hospital after a road accident in a village near Warwick.

Paramedics and the air ambulance were called to Old Warwick Road in Rowington at around 4:35pm on Saturday afternoon after two cars collided, one of which had gone down an embankment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Once the car on the embankment was stabilised, the driver, a female believed to be in her 40s, was extricated from the vehicle.”

“The woman was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board and was conveyed to Warwick Hospital, via land ambulance, as a precaution.”

“The passenger of the vehicle, a male in his teens, was out of the vehicle on the crew’s arrival. He was treated for a minor injury before being conveyed to the same hospital.”

“The second car was carrying four occupants at the time of the incident. One of the rear seat passengers, a man in his early 20s, was treated for leg and pelvic injuries. He was immobilised and extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment.”

“The driver, a woman in her late teens/early 20s, was found to be out of the vehicle. She was treated for a back injury at the scene. She was immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar before being conveyed, via land ambulance, to Warwick Hospital.”

“Two other passengers, one man and one woman both believed to be in their late teens/early 20s, were also treated for minor injuries and conveyed to Warwick Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
