She stared death in the face twice in 24 hours but nothing was going to finish this prickly creature off.
The tiny hedgehog had her life saved twice by Coventry pensioner Ann Armfield.
She was sitting in the middle of Ann’s garden when temperatures plummeted to well below freezing.
Ann, of Centenary Road, Canley, picked the hedgehog up and took her inside, leaving her curled up in a basket under the bathroom radiator.
But when Ann checked on her in the morning the hedgehog was slowly suffocating to death after getting its head stuck in a metal bathroom shelf.
So Ann called fire crews who grabbed equipment normally used for cutting people out of cars and rescued it.
She was sent away to Coventry Hedgehog Rescue, in Holbrooks, and now a month later Peg Leg, as she was nicknamed when she arrived, is ready to be released – when the weather improves.
