Big changes are to be made to several roads in Nuneaton town centre to make them safer.

It’s after well over 55 crashes on the Queens Road in the six years to 2008, injuring 59 people.

As a result, streets off the Queens Road will have their speed limit reduced from 30 to 20 miles per hour and a one-way system brought on Bracebridge Street, Norman Avenue and Marlborough Road to slow traffic down.

Councillor Richard Hobbs, Warwickshire County Council’s portfolio holder for community protection, said:

“I am pleased to see that the Road Safety Engineering teams have investigated these roads and come up with a scheme that will improve safety for road users and addresses the concerns of local residents.”

The scheme will be reviewed after work has been completed to see how successful it’s been in cutting the number of incidents there.
