Warwick beauty queen hoping to win Miss Galaxy title

A Warwick beauty queen is going back to her ancestral roots in the final of the Miss Galaxy Scotland 2011 pageant.



Catriona Cameron of West Street, Warwick, recently won the title of Miss County of Lanark and will now compete in the grand final in February.

The 24-year-old, whose family are from Lanark, Scotland, works as an actress at Warwick Castle.

She is patron of charity Vision Support and a spokeswoman for the Vegetarian Society.

She said: “People often view pageants as superficial which is a very narrow minded view.

"While I’m the first to admit it’s fun spending the day getting dressed up and making friends, pageants are an excellent platform for young women to showcase their talents, interests and convictions.

“I’m really excited about being in the grand final of a Scottish pageant, especially as I was born in England. And it’s a great opportunity to promote causes that are close to my heart.”

* Next month’s winner will compete in the Miss Galaxy International final in the USA in the summer.
