I wonder if the sign read pigeon muck causes Auto immune disease and lung disease would they be as quick in feeding them they are the rats of the sky. Never brush away dry muck as it gets into the lungs.

Has anyone else received one of these 'Food caddies'. That is what the council call them. Got mine last week and am supposed to collect plate scrapings, dead sausages etc in the bin. Its size is about 10x10x8 inches.
As an occasional angler I think it will make a good ground bait bin.

You cannot put cooked meats in it if its used for recycling compost thought I would let any councilor know just in case they read this to educate them. :stir:

Cost of new bins DOUBLE what council first claimed

Coventry City Council has admitted the true total cost of providing every home in the city with a new waste bin is more than DOUBLE what it originally stated.

When the Telegraph asked about the cost of the new food waste caddies back in July, we were told the bill was £95,000 .

But it has now emerged the total cost for buying in the bins, the liners and distributing them was actually £190,000.

It has also been confirmed that the council will only provide the first ten liners for the new caddie with residents expected to pay out of their own pockets after they run out.

A council spokesman said a £1 discount would be offered on liners purchased though the Coventry Recycling Club website - although the precise cost of the mini bin bags has not yet been revealed.

The revelation came as Labour Cllr Jayne Innes, Coventry City Council’s cabinet member for city services faced a grilling over the new “slop buckets” from independent Cllr Glenn Williams.

Cllr Innes was asked about the cost of the new food waste caddies during a Full Council meeting on Tuesday.

Cllr Innes said: “£1m will be saved through the changes to the bin service. Our recycling levels should go up. It’s a win win.

“We have bought 150,000 of these waste caddies. They cost £130,000 and £60,000 is the additional cost of distributing them and the cost of the liners.”

Cllr Innes suggested additional benefits of the food waste caddies could include creating additional capacity at the incinerator which could be sold to commercial waste disposal operators.

One should be grateful to our council for supplying us with these bins. My wife now uses ours to keep the washing line pegs in but I have other uses. Drill a few holes in the bottom and they will make fine hanging baskets. They also can be used to hold my beer cans, six cans fit nicely with some room left for crushed ice.
