Bin collections missed because of staff shortages
Bin collections were missed in parts of Coventry this week because of staff shortages at Coventry City Council.
People in parts of west Coventry including some roads in Whoberley and Tile Hill are waiting for their blue lidded bins, containing recycling, to be emptied several days after the usual collection day.
Green lidded bin collections of general household waste are faring better with most collected on time,
Glen Jones, 68, a retired council worker of Hendre Close, Tile Hill, Coventry said: “It’s four weeks since my blue bin has been emptied.
“I rang up the council and they said it was staff shortages but I don’t believe them because they are making all these redundancies.
“I pay my council tax and I should get my bin emptied.
“I walked through the alley to Tile Hill Lane and their bins had been collected so why hasn’t the council collected mine and what is going on?”
A spokesperson for Coventry City Council said: “There have been staff shortages.”
