Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murderTwo men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following three separate shootings in Wood End.
The men, aged 22 and 19, were arrested by officers on Corporation Street in the city centre in the early hours of this morning (December 29) and are currently in custody.
Police were called to reports of a man being shot on Watcombe Road in the Wood End area of the city just before 6.30pm on Friday night (December 27).
The 23-year-old was taken to hospital with shotgun injuries to the head which are not thought to be serious.
Shortly after that, a 16-year-old was taken to hospital with injuries to his shoulder which are not thought to be life-threatening.
West Midlands Police say it’s believed that he was walking on Hillmorton Road, also in Wood End, just after 7.30pm when a car drove past and fired shots at him.
A further incident occurred last night (Saturday 28 December) at 11pm where shots were fired at a house in Norwood Grove, Wood End.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation which continues.
Police will also be using special stop and search powers in the city centre and Wood End this evening and tomorrow morning "to tackle violent crime".
