Lib-dem voters angry at VAT rise

For the low-income tenants in Coventry facing a 40% cut in their Housing Benefit, a 2.5% rise in VAT is the least of their worries.

Also in the Newsnight programme I linked-to here just three weeks ago the Lib-Dem government spokesmen claimed "we're not going after DLA (Disabilty Living Allowance) claimants as they are some of the worst disabled". It is now thought that up to two thirds of those will have their benefits taken away under new rules.
