Gun duo threatened Bedworth man and child in their own home

Armed officers, the dog unit and the police helicopter were sent to scene

Armed raiders burst into a home in Bedworth and threatened a man and child with a firearm.

The terrifying aggravated burglary took place in Howat Road at 8.35pm last night (Sunday, January 6).

Two men, one armed with a firearm, threatened a man and a child inside the house before stealing jewellery.

It is understood they fled the area in a silver Mercedes.

After the alarm was raised with the police, armed officers and the dog unit were sent to the scene.

The police helicopter was scrambled into the skies as part of the hunt to find the suspects.

Unfortunately the pair remain on the run and detectives want help to trace them.

Detective Inspector Dave Andrews said: “Nobody was injured in the incident but this was understandably a terrifying ordeal for the occupants and we will be offering them support.

“Burglaries involving firearms are extremely rare but when they do occur they have a huge impact on those involved and the wider community. We have launched a thorough investigation to identify those responsible.

“We are appealing for information from the public; any information, no matter how small, may help us to identify the offenders."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said they were called by the police at just before 10pm last night and an ambulance was sent to the scene.

“The crew assessed two patients, a man and a child and fortunately neither required hospital treatment and they were discharged at the scene,” the spokesperson said.

Anyone who saw the car in the area or has any information should either call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 316 of January 6, or the Crimestoppers hotline, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111.

I suspect that there is more to this than we are being told.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
