Coventry Police are increasing patrols' use of stop and search following the killing of Jaydon James

Police have arrested a man in Wood End after patrols were stepped up following the killing of Jaydon James.

Officers have increased use of stop-and-search in Wood End following the fatal stabbing on Saturday night.

The arrest is not related to 16-year-old Jaydon's killing.

PCs stopped a car near Milverton Road, arresting an 18-year-old from Tile Hill, on suspicion of drugs offences, possessing two cans of pepper spray, driving without insurance and a licence.

The man was later charged and bailed to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court next month.

Patrols have used stop and search powers in Wood End, Coventry, overnight.

The special powers allow police officers to search the public without reasonable grounds but where it’s believed there is a risk of violence or weapons are being carried.

Constables were in the Deedmore Road, Hillmorton Road and Lapworth Road areas and stopped and searched a total of 12 people.
