This is the face of the double murder suspect police are searching for this afternoon following the deaths of a mother and daughter in Solihull.

Janbaz Tarin, 21, is being sought over the killings of his former partner, Raneem Oudeh, 22, and her mother, Khaola Saleem, 49.

The pair were discovered outside Khaola's house in Northdown Road in the early hours of this morning with serious stab wounds.

As West Midlands Police had previous contact with the victims’ family, the force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

The force earlier launched a manhunt for the suspected killer, and has now released his picture.

Officers from across the force have been following a number of lines of enquiry to trace Tarin, but he has not yet been arrested.

Police were called to Northdown Road, Solihull at just after 12.30am this morning (August 28) and discovered the women with serious stab wounds.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services they were tragically confirmed dead at the scene.

Forensic tents were set up in the area earlier as police carried out their investigations.

Officers were also carrying out house to house enquiries and there will be a visible presence in the area over the coming days to provide community reassurance.

Neighbours said they had heard screaming.

Det Insp Caroline Corfield, leading the investigation, said: “We’ve been working flat out to apprehend Tarin since the early hours of this morning, following up a number of lines of enquiry.

“As we have so far not been able to locate Tarin, I’m now asking for the public’s help in tracing him

“If anyone knows where he is or thinks they may have seen him, I’d urge them to ring 999 immediately.

“If there’s anyone out there who may be shielding him through a sense of misguided loyalty, they need to be aware that they are committing an offence and will be prosecuted.

“My message to Tarin would be that it’s vitally important that we get to speak to you as soon as possible, so please do the right thing and let us know where you are.”

Anyone who sees Tarin has been asked not to approach him but to ring police on 999 immediately.

The family of the mother and daughter murdered in Solihull say they are "devastated with the loss" of their loved ones.

Raneem Oudeh, 22, and her mother, Khaola Saleem, 49, were found with serious stab wounds outside Khaola's home in Northdown Road at around 12.30am this morning (August 28).

Raneem's ex-lover Janbaz Tarin, 21, is suspected of murdering the pair and a manhunt has been launched to find him.

Police are still yet to locate him and have warned the public to call 999 straight away and not try to speak to him if they spot him.

In a statement, the women’s family said: “Our family is devastated with the loss of our loved ones.

“We would like to give thanks for all the love and support we have received.

"We kindly request that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

Call 999 if you know where Tarin is.

Daughter killed with mum rang police three times in hours before their murder

A daughter fatally stabbed along with her mother called police THREE times in the hours before her death to allege she had been threatened by her ex-partner.

But sources claim call handlers at West Midlands Police assigned the case to a ‘diary car’ - meaning the force did not immediately send an officer out to see Syrian-born Raneem Oudeh.

The 22-year-old and her mother Khaola Saleem, 49, died from stab wounds in the early hours of Sunday, outside Ms Saleem’s house on a quiet residential street in Solihull .

West Midlands Police have launched a major manhunt for the suspect - Raneem’s ex-boyfriend Janbaz Tarin, 21. The shopkeeper, an Afghan national, remains at large.

The case has now been referred to the watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, because of the contact with the family before the double murder.

BirminghamLive has learned that Ms Oudeh, the mum of a two-year-old son, called police asking for help three times in the hours before the horrific attack.

It is understood she first rang on Saturday morning while she was at work and said she had been threatened by her ex-partner.

She then rang again before she left work for the day to say she had heard nothing back. She called for the third time once she arrived home.

It’s believed the final call came not long before the attacker arrived at the property and stabbed both women.

The killer is believed to have knifed Ms Oudeh first before then attacking her mother, who has five other children.

The 22-year-old collapsed to the ground before trying to get up again.

The attacker then fled in a vehicle.

Solihull double murder suspect arrested

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a mother and daughter.

Raneem Oudeh, 22, and Khaola Saleem, 49, were found stabbed to death outside their home in Solihull on Monday.

West Midlands Police said it arrested the man in the Sparkhill area of Birmingham at about 22:00 BST on Thursday.

Ms Oudeh's ex-partner Janbaz Tarin had been named as a suspect in the investigation.

Computer equipment, mobile phones and a van were seized during raids at addresses in Birmingham and detectives said a suspected murder weapon had also been recovered.

Det Insp Caroline Corfield thanked the community for its support and said: "The response to our appeals has been excellent and tonight resulted in this arrest."

Ms Oudeh and Mrs Saleem, who had five other children, were born in Syria.

Police said their relatives had been informed of the arrest.
