Police are investigating an incident in which a bus driver allegedly verbally abused passengers.

A social media post that went viral on Facebook with nearly 800 shares and 300 reactions alleges what happened on the evening of Friday, August 3.

It is alleged a driver bus hurled verbal abuse at a young family and tried to stop them from getting off after an argument over a pram got out of control.

The Facebook post claims a young lady was asked to fold up her pushchair on to the baggage and newspaper tray after getting on outside the transport museum.

It then all kicked off when the pram fell off, sparking a huge row between the driver and passengers, ending with him offering to "have it out" with one of them, it is claimed.

A National Express Coventry spokesperson said: "We are aware of a complaint and are investigating the alleged incident on the evening of Friday 3rd August."

A force spokesman said: "Police were called following a dispute on a bus involving the driver and a number of passengers on 3 August at 5.05pm.

"Enquiries are underway to establish if any offences have been committed.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police on 101 giving reference 1888 of 3 August."

This was all over faceache on the day it happened. The driver was alleged to have passed what might be construed as a racial slur, once things kicked off. There is some video footage taken by bystanders, but the bus's own video might tell a different (more complete) story.

Apparently, the police were called, but didn't turn up until after the passengers had alighted and bus driver had driven off.

As to be expected there were calls for the driver to be dismissed.

Developments on this story might well be interesting.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
