Two blocks of toilets are set to be scrapped under cost-cutting measures

The chain will be officially pulled on two blocks of public loos in Nuneaton and Bedworth as they are set to be demolished.

It has been revealed that Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC) plan to demolish the public toilets in Mill Street in Nuneaton and Chapel Street in Bedworth.

At the budget setting meeting at the Town Hall it was announced, as part of cost-cutting measures, that the two blocks of loos would be closed.

But now the Town Hall has applied for permission to pull down the two buildings.

In the applications, it states: “Due to budgetary constraints and cut backs it is no longer feasible to open and maintain all NBBC owned facilities in the town centres.”

A decision on whether the toilets can be bulldozed is expected to be made at the end of April

There was outrage at the plans to shut the lid on the two blocks of toilets but the local authority says it will save £30,000 and it plans to upgrade the remaining loos.

The plan was poo-pooed by the opposing Conservatives who say that it is an ‘unnecessary and unfair’ cut to local services.

But the ruling Labour group said that difficult decisions had to be made due to the cut to its grant from the government, and that people will still have access to council-owned loos – by the bus station in Nuneaton and near to the market in Bedworth.

This is all because that the Government has vastly reduced the payments to local governments.
It was reported on TV recently that council funding has been cut by 50% over the last eight years.. With the many cuts this government has implemented it should be awash with money.
If the monarchy and other very wealthy spongers stopped sending money to tax havens there may be more money for available for essential services.
Did you notice that Hamilton, the F1 driver is claiming tax relief for travelling costs? That's his private lear Jet. At the same time he is sending millions abroad to avoid UK tax.
