Proposals were first raised last summer
Parking in Coventry city centre will now cost you more in some places thanks to the first price rise in eight years.
Proposals to increase the cost of parking in some short stay car parks in the city were first raised in June 2017, and though it passed in August, the new charges have only come into effect this week.
Despite the rise in cost at short stay car parks, the costs at long stay car parks have either been reduced or frozen.
All on street parking, with the exception of Little Park Street, will be unchanged and it will remain free to park on street after 6pm.
The Telegraph reported last year that the changes would bring the council an extra £221,000 annually to be added to the £4 million already raised each year through parking charges.
According to the council, it is the first price rise since 2010 and aims to discourage office workers from parking in spaces designed for shoppers.
