Police stopped the VW Golf in Windmill Road, Longford, just after midnight on Friday, January 12, and searched the occupants after officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the car.

The 19-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of carrying a knife, driving while under the influence of drugs and drug dealing.

A 20-year-old passenger was also arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply, plus also in connection with a burglary in Oadby, Leicestershire, last September when a car was allegedly stolen.
