Hundreds of homes across Coventry and Warwickshire are without power this morning.

The wintry weather has affected power lines across the UK with a total of 14,000 properties currently without electricity.

In Coventry around 200 homes are without power, including about 150 in Binley and Gosford Green, and 24 in the city centre.

Families are also trying to keep warm without power in Baginton (11 homes), near to Coombe Abbey (15), Hawkes End (17) and Brinklow (16).

The worst-hit areas in Warwickshire are Stratford, where more than 250 homes are currently without power, and the villages of Ettington, Halford and Newbold-on-Stour where another 300 houses are affected.

Western Power Distribution have stated that they hope to have power back on at these homes as soon as possible with times varying from noon to 5pm.

Elsewhere in Warwickshire, around 65 homes in Princethorpe are currently without power, while a small number of properties Warwick and Nuneaton are also affected.
