A Nuneaton man has been jailed for a string of child sexual offences described by police as “one of the most disturbing cases” they have dealt with.

Spencer O’Toole was sentenced to 11 years behind bars after pleading guilty to four counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and six counts of making indecent photographs of children.

O’Toole, 46, of Park Street, was sentenced on Wednesday at Warwick Crown Court and was also was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and handed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The predator was initially arrested in August by officers involved in Operation Safenet - a policing operation targeting suspected paedophiles operating online.

He was re-arrested in September following the discovery of evidence on his computer devices that showed he had been engaging with children on a number of internet platforms and inciting them to commit serious sexual offences, which he then watched.

A large collection of indecent images of children was also found.
