Armed police were scrambled to an address in Nuneaton after a man barricaded himself inside and threatened to attack officers.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the suspect was brandishing weapons at the window of the property in Camp Hill during the early hours of Saturday morning and was threatening police officers.

The two hour stand-off was ended when officers managed to get inside the home.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police Force said: “"Warwickshire Police were called to an address in Queen Elizabeth Road, Nuneaton, just before 1am on Saturday to a concern for the safety of the occupants.

"A woman in her 60s left the property and received medical treatment.

"A 32-year-old man from Nuneaton was later arrested on suspicion of affray, he has been released under investigation."
