A home in Foleshill has been cordoned off by police.

Police have launched an investigation and secured the property after the woman was dropped off at hospital on Tuesday morning.

Police spent a number of hours at the property on Tuesday.

Officers were first seen at the junction of St Lawrence’s Road and Foleshill Road at around 1.30pm and vehicles are still here this morning.

One resident who contacted the Telegraph said: “I first saw police standing outside at about 4.30pm, they were still there at 7.40pm and sitting in a van outside the shop at 11pm.”

Police say that four men - aged 28, 30, 34 and 37 - have been arrested in connection with the incident. Three of those remain in police custody.

Officers also say they are not treating it as a “random attack”.

“The woman - who is currently in a stable condition - is believed to have suffered the injuries at a property in Foleshill Road and searches of the address have been carried out.”

Man stabbed his wife and severed artery in her leg, court hears

A man accused of stabbing his wife at their home in Coventry has appeared in court.

Mihai Ilie was arrested and charged after a woman was dropped off at hospital with stab wounds to her leg and a head injury on Tuesday morning.

Police say she is in a stable condition after suffering the injuries at a house in Foleshill Road.

Ilie, 28, of Foleshill Road, has been charged with wounding with intent and appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court earlier today.

Gez Newsome, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said an assault happened at the family home.

Ilie is alleged to have stabbed his wife twice in the leg, severing an artery.

Mr Newsome added: “Another wound was bleeding on the back of her head.

“She ran away within the property and they were heard to be arguing and told the lodgers ‘he is beating me’ She collapsed and fainted with blood pouring from her legs.”

The case was committed to Warwick Crown Court and the next hearing will take place via video link on March 16.

The Crown Prosecution Service asked that Ilie be remanded in custody until that date as they believe if granted bail he would fail to surrender to custody, interfere with witnesses and re-offend.

Ilie’s barrister did not contest the application and he was remanded in custody.

Three other men were also arrested in connection with the incident - a 37-year-old has been bailed pending further enquiries, while no further action will be taken against the other two.

Man accused of stabbing wife on Valentine's Day has charges dropped

A Coventry man who was accused of stabbing his wife on Valentine’s Day has had the charge against him dropped.

Mihai Ilie had faced a charge of wounding with intent but the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) offered no evidence at a hearing at Warwick Crown Court today.

West Midlands Police launched an investigation after a woman was “dropped off at hospital with a stab wound to the leg and a head injury at around 11.20am on February 14”.

It was believed she had suffered the injuries at a home in Foleshill Road and a property, near to the junction with St Lawrence’s Road, was cordoned off.

Ilie, 28, was charged and appeared at magistrates court two days later, but the case has now been dropped following today’s crown court hearing.

West Midlands Police also confirmed that a 37-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident was released from his bail without charge.

The CPS has been contacted for comment.
