Teen left with serious head injuries after assault in Nuneaton

A TEENAGER was left with serious head injuries after being assaulted in Nuneaton.

The victim, who has not been identified but is 19-years-old, was knocked to the ground and then punched and kicked in Greenmoor Road, near the junction with Heath End Road on Saturday night (June 24).

Detectives say that the teen was taken University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire with serious injuries to his head and face, which are not thought to be life threatening or life changing at the time of publication.

Members of the public are reported to have intervened and verbally challenged the suspects, who left the area on foot, and now officers want to hear from them.

Detective Sergeant Carl Buckley of Warwickshire Police said: "The victim was subjected to a particularly nasty attack that has required hospital treatment.

"We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have information about it.

"I would urge you to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 530 of 24 June if you can help."

An 18-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and has been bailed until July 19. A 17-year-old boy from Nuneaton was been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and has been released under investigation.
