MORE than £10,000 worth of cannabis has been stopped from entering the streets after cops shut down a factory in Nuneaton.

Officers from Warwickshire Police swooped on a property in Hilton Avenue – finding cultivated plants and resin worth around £12,000.

Following the drugs blitz, a spokesperson for Warwickshire Police warned of the potential fire risks of such grows.

In a Facebook post they said: "Drugs warrant executed in Hilton Ave, Nuneaton. A number of plants were seized as well as cultivated cannabis and resin. Maximum yield from the plants would be nine to 12 grand.

"Cannabis grows also pose a serious risk of fire. The amount of electricity needed and the set up used risk over loading the power points. Some also bypass the meter."

No arrests have been made and enquiries are on going.
