Motorists faced severe congestion on the Coventry ring road and around the railway station Friday afternoon following a three-vehicle collision which saw one car end up on its roof.

Despite one of the vehicles overturning no one is believed to have been seriously injured in the collision, which happened during the rush hour on the clockwise exit sliproad at junction 6.

The aftermath of the crash saw police close the clockwise exit sliproad for some time as the vehicles were recovered and the debris cleared away.

Several police cars, a fire engine and at least one ambulance attended the scene but a West Midlands Police spokesman said fortunately no one was seriously injured.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “This was a three-car collision but no one suffered serious injuries as far as we are aware.

“The sliproad was closed in order to recover the vehicles involved and to remove debris.”

British Transport Police Coventry and Warwickshire were also on the scene assisting.
