All students were asked to leave Priory Halls this morning
Students were evacuated from their halls of residence in Coventry city centre this morning after reports of a suspicious package.
Police were called to the Priory Halls building, near to Coventry Cathedral and the Britannia Hotel, following a call from the building.
The package turned out to be harmless and students were allowed back in to the digs a short while later.
A spokesman for Coventry University said: “Police were called to Priory Halls on Monday morning after a suspicious package was reported in the building.
“All students were evacuated from the building as a safety precaution until the all-clear was given by officers once the package was found to be harmless.
“The incident was resolved in around 40 minutes and the accommodation building is now open as normal to students.”
