Yet another planning application is expected to be submitted for the east area of Nuneaton – this time around 200 homes in Higham Lane

If it is handed into Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, it is understood that the Richborough Estate-led proposal is the eleventh development for the east area of town.

As part of public consultation, residents in the area are today (Tuesday, May 2) invited to view the plans for the new homes, which will be based in farm land off Higham Lane, close to the A5.

In a leaflet sent to householders it states that the residential development will boast a range of housing sizes and types, including affordable housing provision as well as proposed vehicular access off Higham Lane.

There are also proposals for a fully accessible and extensive network of public open space incorporating existing trees and hedgerows; a landscape buffer to the north of the site, an equipped children's play area; and sustainable drainage system (SUDs) to manage surface water and ensure there is no increased risk of flooding.

In terms of access, the leaflet explains that a new priority junction will be needed from Higham Lane, and it would be situated between the proposed signal junction to the south and the roundabout to the north.

It is likely that the current speed limit on Higham Lane would be reduced and that there would be a 'number of measures' to encourage use of sustainable modes of travel, such a cycling.

As well as the information session, residents are being asked to give their views as part of the pre-planning application public consultation event.

In the leaflet, it states: "We now welcome your views and comments and will take these into consideration in developing the scheme further. Following this, an outline planning application will be submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council. Once an application has been submitted, the council will undertake their own consultation and you will have another opportunity to comment on the proposals."

Comments can either be emailed at highamlane@turley.co.uk or sent via post to highamlane@turley.co.uk

The deadline is Friday, May 19.
