Prime Minister Theresa May has told the House of Commons that the United Kingdom will never give in to terrorism

Speaking to a packed House of Commons Chamber, the Prime Minister said: "Yesterday an act of terrorism tried to silence our democracy. But today we meet as normal."

The attacker's identity is known to the police and MI5, she said, and would be made public when possible.

He is British born - and "some years ago" was investigated by MI5. But he was "a peripheral figure", Mrs May said.

It follows Wednesday's terror attack in which four people, including the attacker, died.

Victims included police officer Pc Keith Palmer, a 48-year-old husband and father with 15 years of police service; a woman in her mid 40s, and a man in his mid 50s.

Aysha Frade was the first member of the public to be identified as a victim, with her principal at DLD College London describing her as "highly regarded and loved".

Seven people are in a critical condition, and 29 have been treated in hospital

The attacker, armed with two large knives, jumped out of the car after smashing it into the railings encircling the Palace of Westminster, fatally stabbing Pc Palmer as he entered the grounds. He was shot dead moments later by another officer.

A group of French schoolchildren were among those targeted on the bridge, with three injured

MPs went back to work, determined to return to business as usual in the wake of the terror attack on Parliament.

London terrorist attack suspect 'from Birmingham'

Image

Police carried out a raid in Birmingham amid rumours the man who attacked with knife and vehicle in London was from the city.

Armed police have carried out a swoop apparently linked to the terror plot that brought bloodshed to the heart of London

Officers stormed a flat in Hagley Road late on Wednesday night, with West Midlands Police directing inquiries about the operation to the Metropolitan Police. A total of seven arrests are believed to have been made after the attack.

The London force refused to comment on the raid’s connection to the bloody assault on Westminster, but one witness said: “The man from London lived here.”

BBC Newsnight reported that the Hyundai car used in the attack was rented from a branch of Enterprise in Birmingham last Thursday.

A man drove a 4x4 vehicle onto a pavement on Westminster Bridge and ploughed into pedestrians before crashing into a gate near the Houses of Parliament at around 2.40pm.

It's also now being reported by the BBC that the attacker was shot by the Defence secretary's body guard, not by palace armed police.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Police name Westminster attacker

The man believed to be responsible for the attack in Westminster has been named as Khalid Masood, by the Metropolitan Police.

Masood, who died in the attack, was not the subject of any current police investigations, but he had a range of previous convictions for assaults.

The 52-year-old was born in Kent but was believed to have been living in the West Midlands.

PC Keith Palmer, Aysha Frade and American Kurt Cochran were also killed.

Police said there had been no prior intelligence about Masood's intention to carry out an attack.

But he was known to the police and his previous convictions included GBH, possession of offensive weapons and public order offences.

His first conviction was in November 1983 for criminal damage and his last conviction was in December 2003 for possession of a knife.

He had not been convicted of any terrorism offences.

Coventry on alert as extra police patrol streets

Image

The top Coventry police officer today revealed how extra officers will be seen in the city following the terror attack at Westminster.

The horrific attack has led to police forces across the country putting extra officers in to busy areas and around famous landmarks.

This is no different in Coventry ,with extra officers being seen in places such as Broadgate in the city centre.

Danny Long, the city’s police commander, says officers in Coventry are “working around the clock to keep Coventry safe”.

“We would like to reassure our communities that we have extra officers out on patrol throughout the next few days to offer reassurance and address any concerns you may have.

“We are keen to stress that this additional security is not based on any new or emerging intelligence. The security threat level nationally remains unchanged at ‘severe’ meaning an attack is highly likely.

“However, as you would expect, we will provide a visible police presence at key sites and locations and will continue to monitor this.

“As part of our continuing reassurance messages to communities, we will be in touch with our partners within communities to offer them help and advice.”

Is this extra protection just for councilors and mps and areas they go or for the whole of Coventry people suburbs and all. As I ve not seen one police today going out and about in a car from one side of Coventry to the other side especially on foot nor in a car.

Well, it ain't for the likes of us Melisandre.

Some will certainly be for our useless councillors, some will no doubt be to reassure our ethnic minority brothers that they're being thought of. But as usual, the great unwashed are being overlooked.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Thank you Rebbonk I thought as much I must admit I am a sceptic on all this as the old method saying goes if you want to control a mass of people who are against what you want to bring in then fool them to think they are being attacked by terror irrelivant of others lives.
