A house that has been unoccupied for years has been sold at auction for a bargain £175,500.

The three-bedroom end terrace was in need of “modernisation and improvement” but that didn’t put off prospective buyers when it was sold by auctioneers Cottons on Thursday.

It had a guide price of just £140,000-£150,000 - but in a desirable part of Coventry that price is a snip compared to other neighbouring properties.

The ground floor has a porch, reception hall and lounge, opening to a dining room and kitchen.

Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and one single and a bathroom, while there’s a good sized garden and garage outside.

It’s believed the previous owner of the property left many years ago to move to the Middle East.

The house remained in good condition though, leaving some to believe that someone had been keeping an eye on the property.

Recent photos show that the condition of the exterior of the property appears to have deteriorated recently though, with guttering missing and windows boarded up.

The property market is hopelessly over cooked. At some point it will come crashing down and people are going to get hurt again. We learn nothing from the past.
