Private talks are taking place over plans to create a new road linking up Stoneleigh, the University of Warwick and the area around Birmingham Airport.

A Warwickshire County Council briefing notice seen by the Telegraph outlines the plans for the new road which would start at the Stoneleigh junction of the A46 and end north of Berkswell - linking up with either the A45 or the A452 Kenilworth Road.

Plans for the road’s route are being kept under wraps by council officials, but the Telegraph understands it would likely follow the path of the planned HS2 high speed rail line and could start life as the line’s service road for construction traffic.

There would also be a major new roundabout and bridge at the Stoneleigh A46 junction and work could start as soon as next year.
