Blaze destroys car in suspected arson attack

Fire crews were called to the Peugeot 106 on fire just after 8pm last night

This is the damage which has been caused to a car which was set alight in Coventry last night.

The fire is being treated as arson.

Fire crews and police were called out to the Peugeot 106 on fire in the Wood End area of the city just after 8pm yesterday evening.

The car was found to be alight on a patch of grass which was adjacent to Dragonfly Drive.

Fire crews from Foleshill fire station attended.

They said: “We had multiple calls from the public about the car at around 8.10pm last night.

“It was just the one car that was alight and put out by fire crews, but breathing apparatus was needed.

“It is arson, and the police were called.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Dragonfly Drive, Wood End at around 8.15pm following reports of a Peugeot 106 on fire.

“The fire is being treated as arson.”
