A man was sexually assaulted in a Coventry park last night.

The attack happened in Charterhouse Fields, off London Road, Stoke, between 8pm and 9.30pm.

The field runs alongside the River Sherbourne and backs onto Blue Coat Church of England School in Terry Road.

This morning a police car and police tape could be seen at the entrance to the field next to the railway bridge near the turning for the tip.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault in Charterhouse Field off London Road, Stoke sometime between 8pm and 9.30pm last night.

“A scene was preserved for forensic examination and enquiries are ongoing.”
