Thousands of motor enthusiasts descended on Coventry yesterday for the first full day of Motofest.

Hundreds were seen lining the ring road as classic cars, competition cars and racing trucks drove at break neck speeds between junction seven and junction four.

Adrenaline junkies both young and old staked their spots down at the new oval track.

Introduced this year, spectators could watch Gymkhana and drift cars perform nail biting maneuvers. Smoke could be seen billowing from their back tyres as they expertly spun in circles and around obstacles.

For those who wanted a taste of the quiet life, hundreds of classic cars, sports cars, show cars and motorcyles were scattered around the city - perfect for a photo opportunity.

Classic cars lined up outside the Coventry Transport Museum, classic bikes took over Ikea Plaza and Scalextric drove people to the Lower Precinct.

Meanwhile at FarGo Village, classic cars met vintage traders for the first Motofest vintage fair.

Despite the overcast weather, the heat drew dozens of people out to the free concert on Greyfriars Green, where street food, cold drinks and ice cream were the order of the day.

The roar of engines and screech of tyres could once again be heard throughout Coventry city centre on the final day of Motofest.

Thousands of motoring enthusiasts basked in the sun during day two of the weekend showcase of all things cars, trucks and motorbikes.

The dates for next year’s event have already been released with hundreds of people already registering their interest to attend Motofest 2017 on June 3 and June 4.

One of the stars of this year’s show was the new £1.8million Aston Martin Vulcan.

Making its UK road debut, the 800bhp carbon fibre supercar was driven around part of the ring road by Scottish pro driver Peter Dumbreck, who has competed in Le Mans and a host of other top motorsport races.

There were also parades of racing trucks, powerful motorbikes, classic cars and other Astons, watched and filmed by thousands of petrolheads who lined the ring road circuit.

Adrenaline junkies also packed into an oval circuit at Moat Street car park to watch drifters and gymkhana drivers screech around the track in a cloud of smoke.

Meanwhile those wanted a taste of the quiet life were treated to vintage cars and vintage traders at FarGo Village.
