A Salvation Army office in Coventry has been taped off by police after a woman was found unconscious this morning.

Officers were called to the charity’s base in Upper Well Street after the woman collapsed at around at 8.30am.

She was passed over to the care of ambulance crews and then taken to hospital.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Upon our crews' arrival, the woman’s condition deteriorated and she went into cardiac arrest.

"Ambulance staff administered CPR on scene before she was rushed to University Hospital in Coventry. Advanced life support continued en route.

"The woman was said to be in a critical condition upon arrival at hospital."

The scene remains cordoned off by police while investigations continue. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
